  • Michaella (Yu Gyoung) Park, LPC

My name is Michaella, and I am a bilingual (English/Korean) Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. My practice focuses on helping teens, young adults, and adults who struggle with substance use disorder, trauma, depression, anxiety, life transition, and adjustment issues for immigrants. I specialize in trauma-focused treatments, emphasizing grounding skills, healthy coping mechanisms, and cognitive processing of the triggers and trauma history. I believe that opening the “memory box” must be followed up by developing appropriate skills to close it, preventing retraumatizing. I draw from theory-oriented Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT), and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT) to assist my clients.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University in Texas. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision.

“I am committed to being part of your journey toward regaining strength. My goal is to establish a comforting and healing therapy relationship, supporting you in enhancing your sense of security and collaboratively working toward your valued and desired life.”

I reside in Austin, Texas, and in my free time, I enjoy knitting and reading fiction.
